It is our goal to vaccinate every person desiring a COVID vaccination in Marshall County as quickly as possible. As of the date of this release, the Marshall County Health Department has received a grand total of 800 prime doses of Moderna and 400 doses of Johnson & Johnson.
We administer all doses of vaccine within seven (7) calendar days of delivery to the health department. We are calling the names currently on our waiting list to schedule vaccination appointments each week as we receive delivery of the vaccine. While we have been notified that we will continue to receive 100 doses of Moderna each week, we do not expect that number to increase over the next five weeks. We have also been notified that we will not be receiving additional doses of Johnson & Johnson until further notice. We are in hopes production and delivery of Johnson & Johnson will resume as soon as possible.
We will continue to call each person on our waiting list as vaccine is received until the list is exhausted. However, we are no longer adding names to the list because the process has become too inefficient. As we call down the list, we have found that the majority of people we reach have successfully procured their vaccination at a different location. At best, we are scheduling one appointment for every five people reached. In some cases, the appointment rate is one for every 50 people reached. Although this process is extremely inefficient, we feel it is important to give priority to those who called and put their name on our list. When we exhaust the list, we will announce our revised process for scheduling vaccination appointments at that time. Once again, we want to thank everyone for your patience and understanding as we work our way through this process.
While production and delivery of vaccine has not significantly increased for Marshall County, the list of available locations to receive a vaccination continues to expand. We provide links to help residents locate available vaccination locations on our webpage and social media outlets. There are several locations available in Marshall County and our region. Once again, we ask for your patience and understanding with this health department, other health departments, and all vaccinations sites in our region. While there are several locations available, the production and delivery of the vaccine is still not nearly enough to meet the current demand.
