CFS tops Ballard Memorial and Hickman County, improve to 18-7

Heading into the final week of the 2020-2021 basketball season, the CFS Eagles (18-7) have three games left to play – Monday at CCA (5-18), Tuesday at Graves County (15-5) and a game recently added on Thursday at Marshall County (10-8).

They picked up two nice wins on Friday over Ballard Memorial and Saturday against Hickman County to equal their 18 wins last season, the most in well over two decades.

They defeated Ballard Memorial 62-56, their second win this season over the Bombers. Sophomore Andrew Dunning led the Eagles with 20 points and Ballard was led by Kameron English with 16 points.

Luke Grigg scored 19 for CFS including three 3-pointers and he led in rebounds with seven. Dunning had two 3-pointers and was 4/4 at the free throw line. Isaac Hovekamp scored 15, two 3-pointers and was 3/4 from the line.

Dunning led CFS again with another 20 point game in Saturday’s 56-50 win over Hickman County and recorded a double-double with 11 rebounds along with a perfect 8/8 night at the free throw line. Hovekamp had 15 points  and three 3-pointers. Andrew Allen a double-double with 12 points, 10 rebounds and was 7/8 at the line.

Hickman County sophomore Kelen Johnson led the Falcons with 25 points.

Allen ranks 32nd (84.5%) in the state and Dunning 36th (84.1%) among top free throw leaders. As a team, CFS ranks 34th (72.3%) in the state.
