Lamon Wilson Hurt, age 88, of Benton, passed away on Sunday, March 7, 2021 at the Ray & Kay Hospice Care Center in Paducah.
Wilson was born in Hardin on March 17, 1932 to the late Claude and Ruth Barnhart Hurt. He was a member of Union Hill Church of Christ. Wilson was a Veteran of the United States Army and served Honorably in the Korean War. He worked for 15 years for Grand Trunk Railroad in Chicago as well as 10 years with Fisher Price in Murray. Wilson had many talents, especially as a carpenter and painter. He enjoyed wood working and was known for his hand carved walking sticks and making outside Christmas ornaments and decorations. He also enjoyed spending time tending to his vegetable garden. Above all else, he loved his time shared with his family, and was very caring for them and everyone in his life.
Wilson is survived by his two sons, Steve Hurt and Randall Hurt, both of Hardin; one sister, Lois Starks of Fairdealing; one granddaughter, Kayla Hurt Witbrodt (Kevin) of Cordova, Tennessee and two “special granddaughters”, Kayle Sanders and Michaela Kimberlin.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Linda Lou Rickman Hurt; one sister, Floy Mae Brooks; three brothers, Noble, Paul and Joe Bob Hurt; and his parents.
Funeral services for Wilson will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at Filbeck-Cann Funeral Home of Milner & Orr with Rev. Josh Herndon officiating. Burial will follow at Edwards Cemetery in Benton.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the service time of 1:00 PM on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at the funeral home.
