Lady Marshals rolling into final week of regular season

Cayson Conner, in their February 20 game against Mercy, led the Lady Marshals with 21 points in Saturday’s win over McLean County.

Heading into the final week of their regular season, the Lady Marshals will shift their focus to post-season play with the 4th District Tournament getting underway the week of March 15 at Murray State’s CFSB Center. The remaining games include a home game on Tuesday against Murray (8-6) and an afternoon game on Saturday at Southwestern (14-3). They are currently looking for a Friday opponent while in the area before Saturday’s game at Southwestern.

Currently #1 in KHSAA’s RPI rankings and #3 in Dave Cantrall’s Herald-Leader state ratings, the Lady Marshals improved to 17-1 with Saturday’s 58-34 win over McLean County (9-5).

They led 19-6 at the end of the first quarter but held to just five second quarter points, those coming from Gabbi Lovett and a 3-pointer by Pea to lead 24-12 at halftime.

Pea opened the second half with a 3-pointer and the scoring was back on track, the Lady Marshals putting up 18 points in the third quarter to lead by 23 going into the final eight minutes and they held that same margin at the final buzzer.
