Marian J Martin
Heaven gained another angel on February 8th, 2021. Marian lost her courageous battle with Parkinson’s and Cancer at the age of 78. She is survived by her husband John Martin of Benton, her daughter Lisa (Ed) Fornal of Benton, her son Tim (Cyndi) Martin and grandsons Danny and Jason of Belvidere, IL. She was preceded in death by her father Roy Anderson and her mother Loretta Brand.
She was born December 7, 1942 in Wilmette, Illinois. She was a registered nurse starting at Forkosh Hospital in Chicago, worked at other hospitals in emergency rooms and oncology until she retired after working at Baraga County Hospital in L’Anse, Mi. When not at the hospital she volunteered for many years at Little Brothers of the Elderly food pantry in Houghton, MI and in the summers at Bay Cliff Health Camp for kids and adults.
She will be remembered for her love of the outdoors. She had loved gardening (especially raspberries), bird watching, camping, and traveling. They loved to travel around the country in their camper, made lots of friends along the way with the most memorable trip to Alaska.
She was a diehard Cubs fan, taking Tim and Lisa to games at Wrigley field or listening to them on the radio. She was happy to see the day they won the 2016 World Series. She lived life to the fullest and will greatly be missed by all who loved and knew her.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, March 8th at 6 p.m. Visitation will be Monday, March 8th from 5 – 6 p.m. at St. Matthew by the Lake Lutheran Church, 3966 U. S. Hwy 641 North, Benton, KY 42025. Rev. Colleen Winkler will officiate.
Inurnment will take place in the St. Matthew by the Lake Lutheran Church columbarium
