Robert Joles left the troubles of this world behind on January 11, 2021 at his home in Wickliffe with his loving wife of 65 years by his side.
Robert was born on December 12, 1934 to the late Matt and Millie Joles. Robert was an athletic person in his prime. He was a golden glove boxer, a heck of a basketball shot and could pitch a curveball with either hand. Robert traveled all over the country working in the paving business. He loved to talk to people and had a knack for telling hilarious, if often, stretched tales. Even though Robert traveled a lot working, his heart was always in Wickliffe with his wife, Shelby and their two sons, Greg and Scott. He instilled in both of his sons a strong work ethic. When Robert was younger, he was an active member of the Free Masons. He was also an excellent cook and whenever anyone would stop by, they always left full from Roberts “famous” stew, spaghetti or rice & raisins. Robert was of the Christian faith and enjoyed talking about scripture.
Robert leaves behind his wife, Shelby; their two sons, Greg Joles and his wife, Brenda and Scott Joles and his wife Stephanie; three grandchildren: Emily Joles, Reece and Rachel Joles; one great-grandson, Wyatt Joles. He is also survived by Sonny and Susan Sullivan; nephews, Matt Joles, Kevin Unsel, Keith Hawley, and a niece, Audrey Joles Green.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Matt and Millie Joles: a brother, Arthur Joles and nephew, Sackey Joles.
A private family graveside service will be held at Barlow Cemetery with Pastor Scott Fickes officiating. Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Wickliffe is in charge of arrangements.
Expressions of sympathy may be made in memory of Robert Joles to St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital: 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105
