On Saturday, January 2, 2021 at approximately 4:44pm, Marshall County 911 received calls of a hit and run vehicle in the Draffenville area. The suspect vehicle stuck another vehicle and then fled the scene. Multiple other calls began to come in on the vehicle as it drove recklessly in the area and even through yards. A Kentucky State Trooper located the vehicle quickly as Deputies were in route. The Trooper initiated a traffic stop but the suspect vehicle fled west bound on US68 through Draffenville. Marshall County Deputies picked up the pursuit as the vehicle swerved left to right on the roadway forcing other vehicles off the shoulders. Marshall County Sheriff’s Office had to do everything possible to put a stop to the wanton conduct of the operator in the suspect vehicle. Spike stripes were successfully deployed at the Marshall McCracken County line. This did not stop the fleeing suspect though. At the US68 and Benton Road intersection, a Marshall County Deputy utilized a Pursuit Intervention Technique, the PIT maneuver. This disabled the fleeing vehicle and allowed other units to pin the vehicle in to prevent further escape. At that time, 22 year old Heaven Tynes of Union City Tennessee was taken into custody.
Marshall County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Kentucky State Police, Benton Police, and the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office. A special thanks to all of our law enforcement partners for all of their assistance with keeping the public safe.
