Vanessa Knott, 63

Vanessa Kay Usrey Knott, 63 died at DCH Hospital in Tuscaloosa AL Saturday Oct. 10th, 2020 as a result of COVID. She was born June 16th, 1957 in Mayfield, Ky. She was in the first graduating class of Marshall County High school. She graduated from the Nursing Dept. at MSU and worked in three hospitals including Western Baptist in Paducah, Atlanta and DCH in Tuscaloosa. Later she worked as a dispatch for four years with a Poison Control Center.

Vanessa loved life. Her main goal in life was to help others. She was happiest when she was helping someone in the community, at church or in the neighborhood. She was a caregiver for a neighbor for many years. She loved going to yard sales and never missed a bargain. Even born a Kentucky girl, she was an avid Alabama football supporter.

She was a dog lover and had many dogs that were like family members. She was an active member of Taylorville Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa, Al.

She is survived by her husband of 31 years Reggie Knott. Other survivors include her sister Esther (Ronnie) Ford of Benton, and brother Bruce (Debbie) Usrey of Alexandria, VA. Three nieces Crystal (John) Williams of Benton, Heather Rodriguez of Schertz, TX and Laura Beth Usrey of Alexandria, VA. Two great nephews, Quintin and Cooper Rodriguez of Schertz, TX, and an uncle Earl (Hilda) Jones of Roseberg, OR and several cousins. Maki Ijuri (former exchange student) of Japan and Jordan Thompson of San Antonio, TX who called her aunt, and her beloved fur baby Sadie.
She was preceded in death by her parents J.D. and Anna Usrey and her grandparents Harl and Opal Usrey and Clay and Treva Jones along with a brother Hal Brooks.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at 2:30 p.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, 6965 Mayfield Road, Paducah, KY 42003. Bro. Randy Lowe will officiate. Interment will follow the service. No public visitation is scheduled.
