Jay Nimmo fired a 6-under 66 to earn Medalist honors and lead the Marshals to a win in the Greenwood Gator Boys Invitational at Bowling Green Country Club on Monday. The Marshals team score of 300 was six strokes better than second place Trinity (306) in the field of 21 teams.
Nimmo won by three strokes over Franklin-Simpson’s Chase Wilson, finishing out his 18 hole round with four straight birdies.
In 2019, the Marshals finished third in the Gator Invitational with the same score of 300, behind first place St. Xavier (290) and Taylor County (295).
“I can’t tell you how proud I am for this team and what they have accomplished so far this season”, Coach Keith Bell said. “A tournament win here at Bowling Green against the best teams in the state is awesome, a true confidence builder for these players. We hope to carry this momentum into the Kentucky Cup on Wednesday against many of these same teams we were up against on Monday.”
Behind Jay’s 66 (-6), Trey Wall finished tied at 17th with 76 (+4), Camdyn McLeod tied for 19th with 77 (+5), Preston Futrell finished tied at 39th with 81 (+9) and Hayden Powell tied at 46th with 83 (+11).
