Master Gardener Barbara Ray joined us recently on WCBL’s Coffee Call program. Ray said to be on the lookout for Japanese Beetles, especially on roses. And when it comes to watering, the best time to water your plants is early in the morning. Ray also says if you are using a water hose, be sure to let the water run until it is cool coming out of the hose, otherwise the water heated by the sun inside the hose can harm your plants. She says our bee population is in danger and it’s important to plant flowers such as marigolds, lavender, herbs and others that attract bees and butterflies. Barbara Ray joins us on Coffee Call on the first Monday of each month.
