Betty Burnett, 83

Betty Hargrove Burnett, age 83, of Wickliffe, passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2020 at Mercy Health Lourdes in Paducah.

Betty was born in Wickliffe on September 28, 1936 to the late Edmand Cosby and Annie Adams Cosby. She worked as a school bus driver for the Ballard County School System. Betty was a member and attended Southside Missionary Baptist Church all her life. She was a wonderful example of a Christian woman and can described as wearing a “halo”. Betty was young at heart, enjoyed flowers and spending time bird watching. She was known as “gran-gran” or “C.G.” (cool granny) by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who she loved immensely.

She is survived by her husband Harlan Burnett of Wickliffe, Ky and three daughters, Sharon Houston (Gary) of Paducah, Debbie Weatherford (Greg) of Arlington, and Julia O’Neal (Gary) of Hutchinson, Kansas; six grandchildren, Brandi Hafford (Matt), David Hoskins (Kelly), Stacy Longman (Nic), Audra Atherton (David), Rikki Cook (Donovan), Heather Arant (Canaan); twelve great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; two step-daughters and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, James Maylon Hargrove; three daughters, Dorothy Hargrove, Linda Michelle Hargrove, Sarina Hargrove; three sisters, Thelma Emerson, Anna Louise Brunston, Mary Lou Robertson; one brother, William Cosby and her parents.

A graveside service for Betty will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at Wickliffe City Cemetery with Donovan Cook officiating.

Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Wickliffe is in charge of arrangements.
