Paving along KY 348/5th Street Work Zone in Benton starting Monday, April 20

PADUCAH, Ky. (April 17, 2020) — A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans paving along the KY 348/5th Street work zone at Benton in Marshall starting Monday, April 20, 2020.

Following a round of milling, the contractor plans to place the final driving surface along the work zone.

This work zone along KY 348/5th Street runs from the I-69 Benton Exit 43 Interchange extending eastward to the U.S. 641/Main Street intersection.

Motorists should be alert for lane restrictions, one lane traffic controlled by flaggers, and traffic shifts required to facilitate the required work.

Some delays are possible during the movement and placement of equipment to facilitate the work. Motorists who normally travel through this section of KY 348/5th Street at Benton should consider a self-detour around this work zone via KY 408/Oak Level Road and KY 1558/Ivy Road during active paving operations.

Paving crews will be active during daylight hours anytime weather allows. This round of paving for the final driving surface is expected to take about a week to complete.

Jim Smith Contracting of Grand Rivers is the prime contractor on this $4,339,434 highway improvement project. This project is approximately 89 percent complete.
