Shirley Valerius, 78, of Paducah passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Center in the loving presence of her husband and sons.
Shirley was born on March 23, 1942 in Lovelaceville, Kentucky to the late Joseph and Mary Hodge. Shirley attended Draughon’s Business College and worked as a bookkeeper for several businesses. Shirley was a faithful member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church where she often volunteered her time. She was a Duchess of Paducah and enjoyed being a Cub Scout Leader.
Shirley is survived by her husband of 55 years, Mat Valerius, of Paducah, two sons, Chris (Kim) Valerius and Scott (Missy) Valerius, both of Paducah, and 4 grandchildren, Alec Valerius, Bailey Valerius, Hunter Valerius, and Harley Valerius, all of Paducah.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Henry Hodge and Mary Buvetta Albritten Hodge, one sister, Linda Hodge Childress, and one brother, Donald Hodge.

In compliance with health and public safety directives, the funeral service for Mrs. Valerius will be private.
