James M. Tomes, age 80 of Benton, passed away on Wednesday, March 18th at his home of natural causes.
He was born July 16, 1939 in Madisonville, Kentucky the son of the late Alton M. and Ester Carnathon.
James was a retired truck driver and he loved his family, motorcycle riding and yardwork.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Doris Tomes of Benton; three sons Andy Tomes (Tammy) of Somerville, Tennessee, Robb Sullivan of Naperville, Illinois and Ray Sullivan of Conroe, Texas; three daughters Carol Turner (Terry) of Oakland, Tennessee, Trudy Corley (Gene) of Gonzales, Louisiana and Linda Dovich (Jeff) of Grant Park, Illinois; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Visitation with the Tomes family will be on Friday from 12:00 until funeral service time at 2:00 in the Chapel of the Marshall County Funeral Home with Shane Hessey officiating. Interment will follow at the Benton Cemetery.
