Benton Elementary first grade student, Alec Bryant, recently attended Super Saturdays at Murray State University. This program brings together the region’s best students, top quality faculty, and intellectually stimulating study topics, with the best physical resources available. Students are offered challenging courses in smaller groups than are usually found in schools. Classes emphasize minds-on, hands-on approach to learning where students are encouraged to think creatively. All teachers plan differentiated hands-on lessons with the majority being STEAM(Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) based and plan activities 1-3 grades above where students are in school. Alec chose to go on a prehistoric adventure taught by Ms. Christine Howard. Students created their own fossils while uncovering mysteries of these fascinating creatures. Students also got to design and build their own LED dinosaur trap!
