It’s been a busy few weeks for the Marshall County Swim Team with three meets starting Dec. 14 at the Murray Tiger Invitational, Jan. 9 at the 17th Annual Nofsinger at Hopkins County Central and on Jan. 20 at the Paducah Tilghman Invitational held at the Paducah Athletic Club. The team is now preparing for Regionals on Feb. 7-8 at Hopkinsville High School.
At the Murray Tiger Invitational, the girl’s team had five third place finishes for their top results. Two of those coming in the 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay. The three individual third place results came from Mary Grace Thompson in both the 50 yard freestyle and 100 yard backstroke and Delaney Miller in the 100 yard butterfly.
Four third place finishes were also the top results for the boy’s team at Murray. Nikalai Bryan in the 200 yard individual medley, Andrew Wilson in both the 100 yard freestyle and 100 yard breaststroke and the 200 yard medley relay.
In the 17th Annual Nofsinger meet at Hopkins County Central, Mary Grace Thompson took the win in the 100 yard freestyle. Five second place finishes came in the 200 yard medley relay and 200 yard freestyle relay with three individual seconds coming from Anne-Marie Atkins in the 200 yard individual medley, Delaney Miller in the 100 yard butterfly and Sofia Bayer in the 100 yard breaststroke.
Nikalai Bryan won the 200 yard individual medley event for the boy’s team at Hopkins County Central and three second place finishes came from Garrett Parker in the 100 yard freestyle and the 200 yard medley and 200 yard freestyle relay teams. Both teams combined to finish second overall behind first place Madisonville-North Hopkins.
Last week in Paducah, the top girl’s finish was a third place finish in the 200 yard medley relay and the top individual results came from Delaney Miller who took fourth in the 100 yard butterfly and two fifth place finishes from Jaden Topper in the 100 yard freestyle and Sofia Bayer in the 100 yard breaststroke.
Top individual finishes in Paducah for the boy’s team came from Josh Rushing who took third in the 100 yard backstroke and Garrett Parker finished fourth in the 100 yard freestyle. Both the 200 yard medley and 200 yard freestyle relay teams finished third.
Murray’s Jenna Turley dominated the freestyle events taking first in both the 50 and 100 yard freestyle. Tilghman’s Bailee Patel won the 200 yard individual medley and 100 yard breaststroke. Top results on the boy’s side came from Caldwell County’s Aaron Ziobro who took first in the 100 yard freestyle and 50 yard freestyle, Tilghman’s Hayes Varvel won both the 200 yard individual medley and 100 yard butterfly while Murray’s Daniel Klukan won the 50 yard freestyle and took second in the 100 yard freestyle. McCracken County and Murray tied for the overall win and Marshall County finished fifth.
