Marshals win big over Graves County

Jay Nimmo, guarded by Graves County’s Jameson Chalker, had nine points in the Marshals 75-39 win over the Eagles in Friday’s double-header at Reed Conder.

Fresh off of a pre-game presentation recognizing his 1,000th point scored in Tuesday’s game against Paducah Tilghman, Tyler Powell proceeded to drop in two straight 3-pointers after the opening tip that set the tone for the rest of the game in the Marshals 75-39 win over Graves County.

A three from Zion Harmon, who led the Marshals with 27 points, made it a 9-2 game. Powell’s third three of the quarter put the Marshals up 16-5 and the first frame was finished off with the seventh three from both teams combined, by Kaden Driver for a 21-8 led.

Harmon scored the first five points of the second quarter to go up 26-8 while Jay Nimmo dropped in two threes in the quarter for a 43-20 Marshall County halftime lead. Harmon and Powell both leading the way with 15 points each in the half.

Harmon opened the half with four points on his way to score nine in the third quarter, Tyler Stokes with five and two from Powell to take a 32-point lead into the fourth quarter. Powell scored the first four points of the fourth, Stokes added four points and Nimmo a three to give the Marshals a 40-point lead, the largest in the game, on their way to a 75-39 win.

Behind Harmon’s 27, Powell had 21 points and Stokes 11. Graves County was  led by Mason Grant with 10 and nine a piece from Caleb Oliver and Seth Thomas. The Marshals get back to .500 at 9-9 while the Eagles fall to 5-13.

Marshall County will play Prodigy Prep, Fla. in Saturday’s CFSB Classic with a 4:00 tip-off time. This will be the second game between the two teams, Prodigy Prep beating the Marshals 84-76 in their Dec. 7 Hoopfest game.
