Mayfield, KY (December 30, 2019) — Kentucky State Police have charged a juvenile from Paducah with numerous offenses after a vehicle pursuit in Graves County. Just before midnight on December 29th, Trooper Justin Fox was operating radar on US 45 North when he detected a vehicle traveling 92 MPH. Trooper Fox attempted to stop the vehicle which was traveling south toward Mayfield. The vehicle refused to yield and accelerated to speeds reaching up to 110 MPH. Troopers pursued the vehicle for approximately nine miles before the vehicle turned onto Cherry Drive which has no outlet. The suspect exited the vehicle while it was still in motion and continued to flee on foot. Troopers gave multiple orders to stop which were ignored by the suspect. A conducted electrical weapon (CEW) was deployed on the suspect which ended the pursuit and allowed Troopers to take the suspect into custody. The suspect gave multiple names to troopers which were determined to be false. It was later discovered that the suspect was a juvenile from Paducah. Troopers also discovered that the vehicle operated by the juvenile, a 2010 Honda CRV, was stolen from Paducah in November. The juvenile was charged with the following:
- Speeding 26 MPH or >
- Reckless Driving
- Failure to Wear Seatbelt
- Improper Turning
- Fleeing or Evading Police, 1st (Motor Vehicle)
- Fleeing or Evading Police 2nd (On Foot)
- Receiving Stolen Property < $10,000
- No Operator’s License
- Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree
- Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree
- DUI 1st (Aggravating Circumstances)
- Failure to Produce Insurance Card
- Resisting Arrest
- Abandonment of Vehicle on Public Roadway
- Giving Police Officer False Name
- Improper Registration Plate
The suspect was lodged in the McCracken County Juvenile Detention Center.
