
Three games in two days started with a win for the Marshals Friday in the Grind Session’s Kentucky Lake Showcase. Playing Franklin County, Tenn. in the 4:30 game, the Marshals won 66-50 behind 30 points from Zion Harmon who was selected Player of the Game.
A 10-point lead at the end of the first quarter was fueled by 11 points from Harmon, Tyler Stokes scored seven in the quarter and a basket each from Tyler Powell and Bryce Flatt for a 22-12 lead.
Franklin County cut the lead to five points to open the second quarter on a three by Kane Reed and basket from Sumo Sacife. The Marshals went on a 12-0 run to lead 34-17, scoring coming from Stokes with six, Powell with four and a basket by Harmon and they took a 37-22 lead into the locker room at halftime.
The Marshals lead stretched to 21 points in the third quarter before a 9-0 run by Franklin County cut it to 12. Stokes’ basket to end the third quarter gave the Marshals a 49-37 lead.
Eleven of Harmon’s 30 points came in the fourth quarter, scoring eight of the Marshals first 10 for a 20 point lead on their way to a 16 point win over Franklin County.
Marshall County (5-6) will play Sebring, Fla. on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. and finish the night in the seventh and final game of the day against the number one ranked team in the state, Louisville Ballard (6-1). Ballard followed the Marshals game with a 105-76 win over Sebring on Friday. Josh Minkins, a Louisville football commit, earned MVP honors with 20 points and nine rebounds.
