Aspire Academy (Ky.) and Tennessee Prep kicked off a full schedule of nine game at Saturday’s Marshall County Hoopfest. Tyrus Baynham led Tennessee Prep with 25 points in their 66-48 win over Aspire Academy. Baynham has offers to play at SIU, Temple and UT Martin. Aspire Academy’s Shavaul Butters led all scorers with 30 of their 48 points and pulled in 21 rebounds.

Game two featured Callaway (Miss.) in their second Hoopfest appearance. Callaway beat Lausanne Collegiate (Memphis) 65-44 on Thursday behind 37 points from junior Daeshun Ruffin. Despite another 37 point Hoopfest game from Ruffin, Callaway fell to Curie (Ill.) 82-75. Ramean Hinton led Curie with 18 points and 11 rebounds and was selected Most Valuable Player.
Hinton has committed to play at Southeast Missouri in Cape Girardeau. Ruffin is entertaining offers from several schools including Auburn, Alabama, LSU and Ole Miss.

McCracken County and Madisonville-North Hopkins met in the final game of the early Saturday session following the Marshall County girls overtime win over Anna-Jonesboro (Ill.). Madisonville, coming off a 67-57 win over Marshall County on Friday, led the Mustangs 37-28 at halftime and held a three point lead going into the fourth quarter.
With five minutes remaining in the game, McCracken County tied it 55-55 before the Maroons went back up by five. With 2:20 left on the clock, the Mustangs trailed by one before free throws from Ian McCune gave them a one point lead at 63-62. K’Suan Casey scored to put the Maroons back on top and with 34 seconds to go they held a three point lead on free throws by Keshaun Stone.
Jackson Sivills made two at the line to put the Mustangs up 66-65 with 23 seconds to go. Two Madisonville free throws gave them a three point lead, cut again to one on a basket by Sivills with 12 second remaining. Madisonville hit two more at the line with 5.6 to pick up their second Hoopfest win, 72-67.
Casey led Madisonville with 18 points, earning MVP honors while Sivills led all scorers with 33 for , including five from behind the arc and 10 of 12 from the free throw line. McCracken and Marshall County will play next Friday at Reed Conder Gynasium.
