Daishen Nix, Jalen Green impress in Friday’s Hoopfest

Matthew-Alexander Moncriette led Orangeville Prep with 19 points, 11 rebounds in their 55-50 win over Dream City Christian in the first game of Friday’s Hoopfest session.

Five games highlighted night two Friday of the Marshall County Hoopfest. The first game featured Dream City Christian (AZ) and Orangeville Prep (CAN). Orangeville Prep led at the end of each quarter to win 55-50.

Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe led Orangeville Prep with 19 points and 10 rebounds, earning MVP honors. The 6’7″ senior has many offers including Arizona, Florida, Georgetown, Oregon and Vanderbilt. Dream City Christian was led by UC Riverside commit Jalin Anderson with 12 points. MarJon Beauchamp who scored nine points and pulled in 10 rebounds, is forgoing college to train for the NBA draft.

Daishen Nix, a UNLV commit, led Trinity International over Central Pointe Christian. Nix had 29 points and earned MVP honors.

Game two featured UNLV commit Daishen Nix with Trinity International (NV) and Central Pointe Christian (FL). Central Pointe Christian won by two points, 69-67, holding off a 25 point fourth quarter from Trinity International. Nix led with 29 points and earned game MVP.

Three Central Pointe Christian players have made commitments including Jonathan Aybar (North Florida), Luis Rolon (Florida Gulf Coast) and Victor Rosa (Florida Gulf Coast). Ali Abdou Dibba led Central Pointe Christian with 19 points.

Jalen Green (4), who has 22 college offers, led Prolific Prep with 26 points and 23 rebounds in the win over Our Saviour Lutheran.

Following the Marshall County-Madisonville game, the fourth game featured Prolific Prep (CA) and #3 prospect in the country, Jalen Green. Green led with 26 points and was 11 of 12 from the free throw line in their 75-71 win over Our Saviour Lutheran (NY). Green has 22 offers that include Kentucky, Alabama, Auburn, Kansas, Oregon and Cincinnati.

Posh Alexander, a St. John’s commit, led Our Saviour Lutheran with 21 points. Dylan Addae-Wusu will join Alexander at St. John’s and Max Amadasun has committed to Pittsburgh. Our Saviour Lutheran trailed Prolific Prep 40-33 at halftime but poured in 25 points in the third quarter to tie 58-58.

Alex Matthews from John Hardin, scored 25 points, pulled in 10 rebounds and was 12 of 15 at the free throw line to led the team in an 80-44 win over University Heights.

Two Kentucky teams tipped off in the final game on Friday. University Heights took on John Hardin and the duo of Alex Matthews and Trevon Harris who combined for 49 of John Hardin’s 80 points, dominated UHA from the start. Matthews led with 25 points and 10 rebounds, earning MVP honors, while Harris dropped in 24 points and pulled in 11 rebounds.

John Hardin led 30-4 at the end of the first quarter and took a 50-24 lead at halftime. They went on to out-score UHA by 10 points in the second half to win 80-44.  DJ Quarles led UHA with 21 points followed by KJ Crump with 13.
