Lady Marshals season ends in 3-0 loss to McCracken County

Jessica Hicks played her finals game for the Lady Marshals in the regional tournament. Hicks led the team in kills with eight and digs with 15.

Marshall County lost to McCracken County 3-0 (25-15, 25-12, 25-17) in the First Region volleyball tournament, ending their 2019 season with a record of 20-16. The Lady Mustangs are going for their seventh straight regional title and advance to play Ballard Memorial, a 3-0 winner over Hickman County, in tonight’s semi-finals.

“We knew this would be a tough match”, Coach Laura Kinder said. “We had a plan, and I told the girls all week that all I wanted was for them to play hard. They executed our plan, and I couldn’t be more proud of the fight they showed tonight. We had one bad stretch in each set that we couldn’t recover from, but they never gave up, they made adjustments, and they gave McCracken a hard-fought match.”

Jessica Hicks led the Lady Marshals with eight kills and Halle Langhi had seven for the Lady Marshals. Hicks had 15 digs, Clara Bradley eight assists and Tori McCracken with four blocks. Jayda Harris led McCracken County in kills with 17 and Mackenzie Mason had 10. Aubrey Thomas had 37 assists and five aces.

The final four tonight starts at Hickman County with CFS taking on Graves County at 6:00 followed by McCracken County and Ballard Memorial.

“We are certainly going to miss Jessica, Natalie, and Jalyn, but we are excited and optimistic about what the future holds for us”, Kinder said about the seniors and looking ahead to next season.
