Roy Andrew “Andy” Dawes, 61 of Calvert City, KY died on Thursday, October 10, 2019, at Baptist Health in Paducah, KY.
Andy was a heavy equipment operator for the International Union of Operating Engineers Local #181. He then became the Business Agent for Local #181 and later became the District Representative. He retired having 42 years with the Union. He also was the past Grand Master of the Calvert City Masonic Lodge #543, a member of the York Rite Masons Paducah Chapter and a Rizpah Shriner.
He and his wife loved camping at Birmingham Point Campground and he was avid Kentucky Wildcat and Nascar fan.
Born Tuesday, August 12, 1958 in Bandana, KY, he was the son of the late Howard Lewis Dawes, Sr. and the late Jo Nell (Sledd) Dawes.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Tammy Dawes of Calvert City, KY; daughters, Kristen Norton husband Steve of Ledbetter, KY, Whitney Engle husband Matt of Calvert City, KY; brother, Howard “Bubby” Dawes wife Gloria of Calvert City, KY, Tommy Dawes of Calvert City, KY; sister, Meta Lineberry husband David of Calvert City, KY; and three grandchildren, Calen Norton, Maddie Norton and Marie Engle.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Steven Dawes.
A Funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at Collier Funeral Home, located at 211 West 5th, Benton, KY 42025 with Rev. Susan Engle officiating.
Interment will follow in Calvert City Cemetery, Calvert City, KY.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, October 14, 2019, at Collier Funeral Home. Masonic rites will be held at 7:00 PM.
