PADUCAH, Ky. (Sept. 24, 2019) — A contractor for P&L Railroad plans close a section of KY 726/Kelly Road in western McCracken County starting Monday, September 30, 2019.
KY 726/Kelly Road will be closed at mile point 6.424 starting Sept 30 to allow rail crossing upgrades. This closure along KY 726/Kelly Road is near the Heath community between U.S. 60 and KY 725/Woodville Road and immediately south of the KY 725 intersection.
KY 726/Kelly Road is expected to close at this site around 7 a.m., CDT, on Monday, September 30. This closure for rail crossing upgrades is expected to be in place for about five days.
There will be a marked detour.
The contractor, P&L Railroad, and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will attempt to provide timely updates as work progresses at this location.
P&L Railroad also plans rail crossing upgrades at other locations around the region in coming weeks. While the dates are still tentative, motorists and businesses should be prepared for planned state highway closures at the following locations and times:
- KY 996/Metropolis Lake Road in western McCracken County to close near the 5 mile marker starting about October 7, just south of the Heath community and the KY 725/Woodville Rd intersection
- KY 849/Boaz Road in the Boaz community of Graves County to close at mile point 10.87 starting about October 14
The contractor for P&L Railroad will attempt to provide timely updates as this tentative portion of this work schedule firms up.
