Marshals in control in 10-0 win over Eagles

Bryson Penn was back on the field for the Marshals doing Bryson Penn things. He scored four of their 10 goals in Thursday’s district win over Graves County.

Marshall County’s district record remains perfect following Thursday’s 10-0 shutout over Graves County. After their 4-0 win over the Eagles on Tuesday, the Marshals completely dominated Thursday’s game at Colburn Stadium.

Bryson Penn, who has been sidelined with an injury since the Marshals second game of the season on August 13th against St. Mary, saw limited time on Tuesday but started against the Eagles Thursday. Penn wasted no time announcing his return, with a goal less than five minutes in and followed that up with his second goal five minutes later to put the Marshals up 2-0.

Kiefer Court’s goal at 6:12 in the first half made it a 3-0 game and it was 4-0 at halftime following an under two-minute goal that appeared to be an own goal by Mayfield’s keeper but Drake May and Sean Janiec were there in the goal to make sure of it.

The Marshals netted six second half goals, starting with Penn with his third. William Lynch scored to made it 6-0 and Penn knocked in his fourth of the game for a 7-0 lead. Kiefer Court scored his second goal of the game followed by two straight from Logan Davis to end the game at 10-0.

Assists on goals came from Penn, Collin Riley, Nate Garland, Eric Hicks, Jarrett Wiles and Tyler Treas.

Marshall County kept the ball on their end of the field the majority of the game but Ben Burkeen made sure of the shutout with two saves.

Caleb Nicholls was a big part of the Marshals midfield that dominated control of the ball, leaving little room for the Eagles to set up any offense.
