Thursday’s contest between Marshall County and Graves County girls was not the dramatic ending of Tuesday when the two teams were tied 2-2 at the end of regulation, still locked up at the end of two overtime periods before penalty kicks decided the outcome, the Lady Marshals winning the PK rounds 3-2 to take the win.
Tied 0-0 at halftime, Kallen Fuller scored early in the second half for the Lady Marshals following a corner kick for a 1-0 lead two minutes into the game. Hope Howard made it 2-0 on an assist from Fuller at the 9:35 mark of the game and that would be all the scoring for the night for either team. Carlen Whirley picked up her 10th shutout of the season with five saves.
Marshall County will play two important district games next week, Tuesday at home against Mayfield and Thursday at Calloway County. The Lady Marshals are 4-1 in district play, their only loss to Calloway County.
