
In five wins this season, the Lady Marshals have shut out their opponents, out-scoring them 32-0. The fifth shutout coming Tuesday at home in a 3-0 district win over Murray. Leading scorer Carmen Gunn knocked in all three goals for the Lady Marshals and they improve to 5-1-1.
Murray moved their leading scorer, Angela Gierhart, into goalkeeper duties and despite her 18 save effort, Gunn got past her once in the first half on an assist from Kelsey Crass to lead 1-0 at halftime. Two second half goals by Gunn came on a penalty kick following a Calloway County handball violation and she completed the hat trick with a goal in the 74th minute of the game.
Marshall County out-shot Murray 26-5 and keeper Carlen Whirley had three saves in her fifth shutout of 2019.
Up next, the Lady Marshals will take on Hopkinsville (3-4) at home on Tuesday, September 3.
