Kathleen Ruth Ulrich Hard, 92, of Paducah, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at her home while she slept, on the morning of Monday, July 22, 2019.
She was born in Grand Chain, Illinois, to the late Otto Sylvester Ulrich and the late Pauline Cecile Kirschner Ulrich on July 8, 1927.
Kathleen married her high school sweetheart, Robert Paul Hard, on February 16, 1946, in the rectory of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Grand Chain, Illinois. They had four children and were married… for 64 years, until Robert’s death. They moved to Paducah, Kentucky in 1971, where they lived until their deaths. Kathleen was a wonderful homemaker, loved her family to no end, and was a great caregiver to so many children that she babysat for. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, and a former member of the St. John’s Homemakers Club.
Kathleen is survived by one son, Timothy Hard (Cathi) of Paducah, KY; two daughters, Gela Hard (Robert Wilson) of Fancy Farm, KY, Tammi Langston (Jim) of Paducah, KY; nine grandchildren, Stephanie Langston (Brian) of Paducah, KY, Christina Walker of Louisville, KY, Robert Scott Walker (Andrea) of Mammoth Lakes, CA, Amy Walker of Louisville, KY, Kelly Alsip (Danny) of Paducah, KY, Darin Langston of Lexington, KY, Brandon Langston of Nashville, TN, Bethany Hendrickson (Will) of Paducah, KY, and Katy Muller (Bret) of Paducah, KY. She is also survived by twelve great grandchildren, Philip Walker of Louisville, KY, Bailey and Cameron Langston of Paducah, KY, Rebecca and Kyler Alsip of Paducah, KY, Cadence and Garrison Hendrickson of Paducah, KY, Bo, Levi, and Adeline Walker of Mammoth Lakes, CA, Colton and Grady Muller of Paducah, KY; One sister, Regina (Bibs) Isom of Charleston, IL; nephew, Carl E. ‘Gene’ House (Bonnie) of Brewster, WA; niece, Andrea Hoffman (Frank) of Bloomington, IL; one sister-in-law, Mary Creson of Ovilla, TX; several nieces and nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Paul Hard; one son, Rickie Lynn Hard; two brothers, Greg Ulrich and Charles Ulrich.
A funeral mass will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, July 26, 2019 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Rev. Bruce McCarty officiating. Burial will follow at St. Catherine’s Catholic Cemetery in Grand Chain, Illinois.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home. Prayers will be said at 5:00 p.m. with Rev. Bruce Fogle officiating.
