KSP investigating death of Marshall County man

UPDATE Wednesday, July 3 (6:08pm):

Kentucky State Police have arrested Daniel Kai Alexander, age 29, of Gilbertsville, KY on a felony arrest warrant. He was taken into custody on today’s date (July 3rd, 2019), by Trooper Eric West and was transported to Marshall County Jail. The arrest stemmed from the death investigation of Brian S. Butler which began on June 29, 2019. Alexander was one of the owners of the three pit bulls that have been quarantined by Marshall County Animal Control.

The investigation has shown that Alexander tampered with physical evidence at the scene on June 29, 2019. The investigation has also shown that Alexander had knowledge of Brian S. Butler’s body on McCoy Ln. and did not contact the proper authorities. Brian S. Butler’s body was located later that evening by a passing motorist who called 911.

Alexander was charged with the following; Tampering With Physical Evidence (Class D Felony), as well as Duty of Person, Hospital, or Institution to Report Death of Person (Class B Misdemeanor).

At this time the Kentucky State Police feel confident that the three pit bulls belonging to Alexander were the only dog(s) responsible for the attack on Brian S. Butler. However, the community of Gilbertsville is urged to exercise caution towards any roaming dogs in the area.
