The Orange Waves Swim Team, based out of Calvert City Country Club, began their 2019 summer season Saturday at the Herrin Invitational.
Some top early season results at Herrin came in the boy’s 7-8 division by Hank Harper who placed eighth in the 25 yard freestyle and fifth in 25 yard backstroke. In the girl’s 7-8 division, Ellie Adams placed 10th in the 25 freestyle and ninth in the 25 yard backstroke. Anne-Marie Adkins turned in some of the top finishes on Saturday in the girl’s 11-12 age division. Adkins placed third in three events – the 50 yard freestyle, 50 yard backstroke and 50 yard butterfly plus finished seventh in the 50 yard breaststroke.
Two swimmers performed well in the girl’s 13-14 division. Delaney Miller placed fourth in both the 50 yard freestyle and 50 yard butterfly, third in 50 yard backstroke and fifth in 50 yard breaststroke. Jaden Topper finished fifth in the 50 yard freestyle and 10th in 50 yard backstroke.
In the boy’s 15-16 age group, Nikalai Bryan placed seventh in the 50 yard freestyle, fifth in 50 yard backstroke, sixth in 50 yard breaststroke and fourth in 50 yard butterfly. In the same age group, Garrett Parker finished sixth in the 50 yard freestyle, sixth in both the 50 yard backstroke and 50 yard butterfly and seventh in 50 yard breaststroke.
Abigail Hall placed eighth in the girl’s 15-16 50 yard freestyle and 50 yard backstroke and seventh in the 50 yard breaststroke. Kelsey Thompson finished fourth in the girl’s 17-18 50 yard backstroke.
