Irene Louise Koon, 88, passed away Monday, May 13, 2019, at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Edgewood, Kentucky.
As a native Marshall Countian of 87 years, Irene was a member of the Union Ridge Baptist Church as well as the Alford Chapter #445 Order of the Eastern Star in Aurora where she received her 50 year pin. In September 2018, Irene moved to the Baptist Life Community Village Care Center in Erlanger, Kentucky. In her younger years, Irene enjoyed golfing, bowling, dancing, traveling, and family gatherings.
Irene is survived by two sisters, Lorene Tubbs and Donna Rudolph; four nephews, Jimmy (Janice) Tubbs, James Henson, Ronnie (Pat) Tubbs, and Quenice (Debbie) Tubbs; three nieces, Janice Aden, Carol Burkhart, and Sarah (Curry) Meece.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Naud and Rena (Greer) Kirk; her beloved husband, Leon Koon; two brothers, Golden Kirk and James Richard Kirk (infant); one sister, Lerlene Henson Coplen; one nephew, Ricky Henson; and one niece, Peggy Wadsworth.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at 11:30 a.m. at Collier Funeral Home in Benton, Kentucky. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral, 9:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m.
Graveside services will be held immediately following the funeral services at Union Ridge Cemetery in Aurora, KY.
