Three Marshall County 4-H middle school members participated the 14th Annual Kentucky 4-H Summit. The delegates were Callie Tipton, Larissa Holt, and Paris Carter. Lena Mallory, Marshall County 4-H Youth Development Agent, also attended.

Over 150 youth participated in the second of three 2019 Kentucky 4-H Summit sessions held at the Lake Cumberland 4-H Educational Center in Jabez. The summit is designed for middle school youth to strengthen their leadership and communication skills while meeting others from across the state. The participants also learn more about the opportunities available to them as teens in the Kentucky 4-H program.

The delegates participated in workshops and fun shops, and team-building activities. Workshops and fun shops offered included team building, various craft classes, cooking, gaga ball, running/walking a 4K, and much more. Marshall County’s 4-H Agent, Lena Mallory, led a fun shop where participants learned the benefit of positive stress management through coloring. The delegates were encouraged to take what they learned at the workshops and help 4-H leaders teach those activities in their respective counties.

Marshall’s delegates commented they learned how to do light painting photography, make a jolly rancher wreath, and so much more. They liked meeting new people and seeing old 4-H friends. They also enjoyed the painting fun shop.
