Many stories have been shared about a special baseball glove Brian Cope keeps close to his side that belonged to his son, Preston. One of these stories made its way to Wilson Sporting Goods representative, Rick Redman, who reached out to Marshall County High School with a very special offer.
Redman had heard the part of the story about Preston designing his own glove when he first made the high school baseball team which led him to offer each of Preston’s teammates the opportunity to customize their own glove.
Marshall County High School Athletic Director, Mike Johnson, worked with Redman and Wilson Sporting Goods through this process saying, “This was an amazing gesture by Wilson to honor Preston with these team gloves. To see a major sports company take such a vested interest in our community shows how extremely important people are to their company.”
The 27 players received their Wilson customized gloves in honor of Preston, Monday on the MCHS baseball field, presented to them by Preston’s parents Brian and Teresa. Preston’s name and number is stitched into each glove keeping their teammate, though not on the field, a part of the game he loved.
