Since 2011, Marcella’s Kitchen has been working to fight hunger in the Marshall County area. They’ve recently moved to a new space and are in need of new kitchen equipment to continue their mission. To offset the costs, they’ve created an online fundraiser through RedBasket.org.
Marcella’s Kitchen offers free lunch to anyone in the community, no questions asked. With nearly 12 percent of the Marshall County population facing food insecurity, there is quite a need for this service. Since first opening the kitchen in 2011, the organization has served more than 150,000 meals.
“Serving with love and loving to serve – together we can change lives,” said Marcella Perkins, the organization’s founder.
Due to increasing demand, the group recently moved to a larger space and is in need of updated commercial kitchen equipment. In partnership with WoodmenLife Kentucky Chapter 117, Marcella’s Kitchen has created an online fundraiser through RedBasket.org. RedBasket.org is a fee-free fundraising website sponsored by WoodmenLife. Marcella’s Kitchen hopes to raise $30,435 to purchase the needed equipment and continue serving their neighbors in need.
This fundraiser will be online through November 1. To learn more or to make a tax-deductible donation, please visit https://redbasket.org/1764/marcellas-kitchen.
