The Lady Marshals followed their 9-0 shut out over St. Mary on Tuesday with a 10-0 shut out over Mayfield to pick up their first district win and move to 2-0. The scoring started less than three minutes in on a goal by Tori Ford, followed by three more goals by Carmen Gunn, Kylee Crass and Gunn’s second, all in a span of 10 minutes to lead 4-0.
Four more first half goals came from Whitley Watwood on a free kick, Allison Walker, Crass with two consecutive goals for the first half hat trick and an 8-0 Lady Marshals halftime lead.
Two more goals for the win in the first five minutes of the second half came from Lindy King and Ford with her second of the game. The Lady Marshals had 21 shots, 14 on goal and three corners.
Saturday, the Lady Marshals will play Greenwood in Bowling Green. The JV game will begin at 11:00 am followed by the Varsity at 12:30. This will be Greenwood’s first regular season game. The Lady Gators finished the 2017 season 20-4-1 including a 2-0 win over the Lady Marshals.
