The Moses Basket is a free resource supplying foster/relative care families in Western Kentucky with needed items.
“Whether you are a family member, acquaintance, or complete stranger, opening your home can be an overwhelming experience for not only the child, but the placement family as well. We strive to offer clothing, necessities, and supplies in a timely manner to the receiving family. In addition, every child placed will be given a Moses Basket with age appropriate items to ease anxieties associated with relocation. It is our goal at The Moses Basket to make this transition as smooth as possible for all hearts involved.”
Since launching in 2017, TMB has expanded from the pilot counties of Marshall and McCracken to include Ballard with the remainder of its quad-county region soon following. Though we are thankful for this growth, we still have 10 counties with approximately 400 children and families we haven’t reached that would benefit greatly from our assistance. Social Services between each county work hand in hand often placing children in neighboring regions to ensure they have a home. They internetwork, pull resources, and collaborate as a team to give these children the best possible care available. Our goal is to service ALL of Western Kentucky, allowing us to cross these boundaries alongside the social workers. The State Farm Grant would allow us to supply each of the unmet counties with a starter fund to launch services in their area. The best way you can help us achieve this goal is by using our direct link below and voting 10 times per day!
