Mrs. Florence Lurene Kenley Hudspeth, 83

Mrs. Florence Lurene Kenley Hudspeth, age 83, of Murray, Kentucky died at 9:40pm Sunday, July 22, 2018 at the Anna Mae Owen Hospice House, Murray, Kentucky.

Mrs. Hudspeth was born May 30, 1935 in Calloway County, Kentucky to the late Johnny Kenley and Lue Ellen Goosby Kenley. Her husband of 52 years, Lewis preceded her in death in 2006; also preceded in death by, one son, Victor Allen (Joyce) Hudspeth; one brother, Charles Kenley; and two sisters, Johnnie Mae Kenley and Anna Lois Urquhart.

She professed her faith in Christ at an early age was a member of the Greater Hope Missionary Church, where she was a faithful member and sung in the church choir, and served on many church board activities.  She was anointed “Mother Florence” of her church.

She was joined in holy matrimony to Lewis Daniel Hudspeth on November 12, 1954 and to this union was born five children, Victor Allen I, Rosaretha, Danny O’Shea I, David Lane, and Lindsey Avery. Also adopted granddaughter, Jamille Wilkens as her daughter.

Mrs. Hudspeth attended Douglas High School and graduated with a GED.  She was a retired employee of Fisher-Price/Mattel Toys.  She served as a charter member of the Leadership of Murray.  A past member of the Murray-Calloway County Park Board, Needline Board, Douglas Civic Improvement Club and Senior Citizen Board.

She leaves to chrish her memory, one daughter, Rosa; three sons, Danny (Regina) Hudspeth, David (Pam) Hudspeth, and Lindsey Hudspeth, all of Murray; two brothers, J.L. (Jorine) Kenley and Glen Kenley, all of Murray; seven grandchildren, Jamille Wilkens (fiance: Nazih Nored), Carrie (Manuel) Gonzales, Avery (Jennifer) Hudspeth, Danny O’Shea (Brooke) Hudspeth, II, Chris (Kristen) Hudspeth, Dominique (Deanna) Hudspeth, and Charde’ Hudspeth; seventeen great grandchildren, Victor Allen II, Derryanna, Mikayla, Memory, Patricia, Angelina, David, Makynna, Abigail, Heaven, Mekhi, Kamden, Lincoln, Israel, Laila, Danny O’Shea III (Tripp), and Kingston; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

The funeral service will be at 1:00pm Friday, July 27, 2018 at the Blalock-Coleman & York Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Murray Memorial Gardens.  Friends may visit the family from 5:00pm to 7:00pm Thursday and 12:00pm to 1:00pm Friday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Great Hope Baptist Church, Vision/Building Fund (for a new fellowship hall), 711 River Road, Murray, Kentucky 42071.  This was a vision of Mrs. Hudspeth for a long time.
