Rain-outs this spring are forcing cancellations, leaving teams struggling to reschedule games. Christian Fellowship cancelled three games last week due to the inclement weather but managed to get in their game Monday against Calloway County. The Lady Lakers beat CFS 8-3 on nine hits in a back and forth battle before Calloway County took the lead for good in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Down 1-0, the Lady Eagles tied the game in the top of the third on a home plate steal by Abigail Cima. Calloway County took the lead at 2-1 in the bottom of the third with two outs on a steal of home by Ellie Jackson. The lead swung back to CFS on a 2-run fourth inning to go up 3-2. Maggie Wagner scored on a passed ball and an RBI single by Cima brought in Renee Shields.
Calloway County scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth to lead 4-3 and added three runs in the bottom of the fifth on a single by Paige Weatherly and 2-run double by Philicady Garland. They scored their final run of the game in the sixth inning when Jackson made it around from first on a fly ball out to center field hit by Paige Kramer for the 8-3 win.
Following a break from competition over spring break, the Lady Eagles will begin play in the Region I All “A” Tournament on April 10 at Hickman County against St. Mary.
