Tied 3-3 in the bottom of the seventh inning, Christian County’s Hope Jones scored the game-winner on a double with one out for a 4-3 win over the Lady Marshals.
“Christian County has been a top rated program ever since I can remember”, Head Coach Mallory Newton said. “They produce great athletes and big hitters. I knew that last nights game would be a hard-fought battle and we would have to come ready to play. Overall our defense was fantastic and the kids showed a lot of grit. My middle infield, Gracey Murt at second and Cayson Conner at shortstop, made some big plays for us. We were competitive and aggressive but it took too long for us to make adjustments at the plate. The game was a hard loss to swallow but I think it was a great learning moment.”

Christian County led 2-0 after two innings, scoring on a single by Riley Hancock and Taylor Shemwell scoring on a ground out. Charley Pursley scored a run for the Lady Marshals in the fifth on an error by third baseman Halle Hendricks to get on the board.
Marshall County took the lead at 3-2 in the top of the sixth. Murt scored on a passed ball and Conner on a fly ball single by Sarenna Tomassi. The Lady Colonels tied the game up in the bottom of the sixth with the first batter up, Lexie O’Daniel, hitting one over the fence.
The Lady Marshals left two base runners stranded in the top of the seventh, leaving an opening for Christian County which they took advantage of, scoring on the double by Jones. They will have another chance against Christian County at home game on April 24.
