Katherine Harris Rose, of Calvert City, KY went to be with the Lord March 11, 2018 at the age of 87. She was born on October 12, 1930 in Union City, TN to Hubert S. Harris and Novella Council Harris.
She is preceded in death by her parents and husband Hugh Neil Rose.
She is survived by her sons Stewart Harris Rose of Austin, Texas and Murray Louis Rose of Wichita Falls Texas. She has 5 grand children and many great grandchildren.
Katie, as she was known to many, was a woman of many talents and interests. She has had many roles of leadership and service. She was a member of the Calvert City United Methodist Church and had served as president of the United Methodist Women for many years. She was in the Art Guild in Marshall Co and served as a leader in that group.
Katie was a homemaker in her early days but developed a talent in midlife of painting. She has had commissioned portraits and paintings of homesteads and sold other art at the PAPA in Paducah.
She was a traveler and was always looking to plan the next trip after her husband retired from TVA. They started out small but moved up to a RV van eventually over 35 years. She has albums full of sites from all over the US.
Visitation has been planned for Wednesday, March 14, 2018 between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at Collier Funeral Home, 211 West 5th St., Benton KY, 42025.
Funeral service will be at Calvert City United Methodist Church on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at 10:30 a.m.
Burial will follow in the Calvert City Cemetery, Calvert City, KY.
