Mr. Vernon “Tony” “Pee Wee” Smith, 83 of Benton, died on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018, at his home. He was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. He retired from SKW where he worked as an operator and was also a member of the UAW Local 523.
Born Thursday, May 17, 1934 in Benton, he was the son of the late Alton and Wilma (Cole) Smith.
Surviving are sons, Dennis “Smitty” Smith, wife Debbie, and Russell “Puggs” Smith, wife Jonda all of Benton; daughter, Kim Smith of Benton; brothers, Tom Smith, wife Mary of Benton, and Frank “Bob” Smith of Columbus, Ohio; sister, Mary Kay Owens, husband David of Kingsport, Texas; grandchildren, Lesley Shemwell, husband Brian, Staci Smith, Darcie Egner, husband Daniel, Travor Bailey, wife Kayla, Sherry Shearer; great-grandchildren, Raelee Story, Bryleigh Shearer, Reese Shearer and Gracie Egner and very special companion, Roma Morris.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Farrell Smith.
A Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018, at Collier Funeral Chapel located at 211 West 5th St. Benton, KY 42025 with Bro. Jim Edwards officiating.
Interment will follow in Cole Cemetery, Benton.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2018, at Collier Funeral Home in Benton.
