Reported burglary yields drug arrest

A local man is facing charges after police say a caller reported a burglary, that yielded a drug arrest.

According to Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded on Feb. 16 to a residence in Gilbertsville along with Calvert City Police officers. The suspects and reported vehicle had left the premises prior to deputies arrival, however police discovered the car a short time later when monitoring the area.

MCSO reports say a passenger in the car was actually the homeowner in question and had locked his keys in the house, forcing him to crawl through the window and prompting the call. However, additional investigation revealed the homeowner, Bobby Whitis, was wanted on a Trigg County warrant for failure to appear. Deputies arrested Whitis on scene and also allegedly discovered methamphetamine and paraphernalia during the arrest.

Whitis was charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), first offense and possession of paraphernalia.
