Two arrested in suspected storage unit thefts

Calloway County Sheriff’s deputies made arrests in an alleged rash of area storage unit thefts from Calloway and Marshall counties.

According to the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received information on Tuesday, Jan. 2 that stolen property had allegedly been posted on social media. Further investigation revealed property police believe had been reported taken from Marshall and Calloway counties.

CCSO and Murray Police Department executed a search warrant at a residence in Lynn Grove, where officers allegedly discovered numerous items, including power wheels, battery-operated motorcycles, tools, furniture, electronic equipment and other property. Recovered property was believed to have been taken from multiple counties, including Marshall, McCracken, Graves and Calloway. While most of the items were allegedly taken from storage units, utility and box trailers and property recovered from an isolated business were also located at the scene, according to CCSO.

Police also reportedly discovered drugs and paraphernalia at the home.

Heather N. Williams, 30, and Rick A. White, 34, both of Lynn Grove were arrested in connection to the incident.Both were charged on suspicion of several counts of receiving stolen property, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and endangering the welfare of a minor. Williams and White were taken to the Calloway County Jail and each held on $10,000 cash bond.

The Calloway County Sheriff is encouraging residents that own storage units to check them for security and to make sure their unit has not been burglarized. Residents who have been a victim to a theft of a storage unit within the past 18 months are encouraged to contact their local law enforcement agency and report the theft.  Those who have already discovered and reported a storage unit theft may contact the CCSO at 270-753-3151 and check on their case.

CCSO was assisted by the Murray Police Department, Calloway County Fire and Rescue, Kentucky State Police and the Department of Community Based Services.

The investigation remains ongoing.
