Since losing their first six games of the season, the Christian Fellowship Eagles have won the last three of four games, most recently two straight wins over Fulton City. In their last game of 2017, the Eagles beat Fulton City 45-43 and started 2018 with another two-point win over Fulton City, 48-46.
In their December 20th win, CFS trailed by two at the end of the first quarter and by one point at 26-25 at halftime. The Eagles out-scored Fulton City 11-8 in the third quarter, enough to give them an edge with both teams scoring nine points in the fourth quarter. Brice Etheridge and Nathaniel Hummell led CFS with 14 points each.
Meeting again on January 2nd in a game very much like the last, Fulton City had a slight edge at halftime leading 23-19 while CFS out-scored them in the third quarter by seven to take a 37-34 lead. That was followed by an even fourth quarter of scoring with the edge going to Fulton City 12-11 but the third quarter advantage was enough for the Eagles to hold on to win by two.
The Eagles were led in scoring by Etheridge with 28 points. Fulton City relied heavily on the three to keep them in the game in both contests, hitting seven in the first meeting and five in the second. CFS was solid from the free throw line, hitting a combined 19 of 25 in the two games.
The Eagles will play next at Community Christian Academy on Monday, January 8th. They will meet Fulton City again on January 13th at 1:00 in the first round of the All “A” Tournament at Mayfield High School.
