A Paducah man was arrested Sunday after police say he crashed his car and became belligerent with responders.
According to Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a single-car crash Sunday, Nov. 19 on Mt. Moriah Road. Police say on arrival they discovered a vehicle trapped in a ditch and wedged against a concrete bridge barrier. The driver allegedly had the accelerator pressed down and was spinning the tires and revving the engine. The driver, identified as Avery H. Croft, 55, of Paducah, was allegedly yelling profanities at responders and refused to comply with officer commands.
Further investigation revealed Croft was allegedly under the influence; police say he later admitted to using methamphetamine. Deputies removed Croft from the vehicle, arrested and charged him on suspicion of aggravated DUI, second offense, driving on a DUI suspended license, failure to produce insurance card, failure to register transfer of motor vehicle, failure to wear a seatbelt and resisting arrest.
Calvert City Police Department assisted in the arrest.
