Mr. Billy Joe Higgins, age 80 of Benton, passed away Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017, at his home.

Born Saturday, Dec. 12, 1936, in Paducah, he was the son of the late Wilson and Florence Higgins. He was a retired driver for United Parcel Service, and a member of Teamsters local 710. He served his country in the United States Air Force. He was of the Baptist Faith.

Surviving are his wife, Ollie (Hester) Higgins of Benton; daughters, Cynthia “Jeanne” Edmonds (David) of Benton, Sandra Bigler (Tony) of De Soto, Ill., and Melissa Price (Randy) of Benton; one grandchild, Billy Shawn Cotham of Benton; and one great-grandchild, Jason Ranger Cotham of Benton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandchild, Rudy Jason Bohannon; six brothers, Don Higgins, Jack Higgins, Edward Higgins, Ralph Higgins, Jerry Higgins and Jewel Higgins; and one sister, Millie Peebles.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017, in the chapel of the Collier Funeral Home, Benton. Rev. Chris Young officiating.

Interment with military honors will follow the service in the New Harmony Cemetery in Benton.

Friends may visit with the family from 5-8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20, 2017.
