Mr. Ray “Red Higgins” Penney, 76 of Benton, died on Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2017, at Murray-Calloway Co. Hospital in Murray. He was a retired truck driver.
Born Friday, June 27, 1941, in Marshall County, he was the son of the late James William Penney and the late Bertha Mae (Higgins) Penney.
Surviving are his wife, Joan (Phelps) Penney of Benton; sons, Ray Thomas Penney Jr. of Vicksburg, Miss., Timothy Dale Penney of Hickman, Danny Wayne Ray of Ackworth, Ga., and Skie Tyler Penney of Benton; daughter, Patricia Gail Crowell of Hickman; half-sister, Louella Price of Paducah; 15 grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Rodney Hamilton; and daughter, Virginia Gail Johnson.
A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017, at Collier Funeral Chapel located at 211 West 5th St. Benton, KY 42025 with Bro. Joel Frizzell officiating.
Interment will follow in Marshall Co. Memory Gardens in Benton.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 10, 2017, at Collier Funeral Home.
