Mr. Leonard M. Chappell, age 85 of Symsonia, KY died on Friday, October 20, 2017, at Superior Care Home in Paducah, KY. Born Thursday, December 10, 1931 in Malden, MO, he retired from the United States Air Force after twenty years of service, having achieved the rank of Master Sergeant. He then went on to retire from Jackson Purchase Two-Way Radio, was a member of the American Military Society and Masonic Lodge #917. He was also a member of Oaks Church of God where he was a very active.
Mr. Chappell is survived by his wife Loraine (Bell) Chappell of Symsonia, KY; sons Mark Chappell wife Jo of St. Andrews, Victoria, Australia, Paul Chappell and wife Lisa of Mayfield, KY, Kevin Chappell and wife Amanda of Symsonia, KY and; daughter, Sharla Sparks and husband Thomas of Grand Rivers, KY, brother, Donald Allen Chappell of Georgia, sister, Lula May Mitchell of St. Louis, MO and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Chappell was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years Carole (Lyles) Chappell, brothers, Sherman Chappell, John Alden Chappell and Elmer Ray Chappell and sisters, Anna Louise Chappell, Delois Faughn and Brenda Joyce Hayden. His parents were the late John A. and Pearly Belle (Hull) Chappell
A Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 30, 2017 in the chapel of Collier Funeral Home, with Rev. Richard Dobbs officiating. Burial will follow in Symsonia Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, October 29, 2017, at Collier Funeral Home, 211 West 5th, Benton, Kentucky.
