
Mr. Marvin Thomas York, 87, of Benton, died on Sunday, Oct. 22, 2017, at Baptist Health in Paducah. He was a Farmer and was retired from SKW Metals and Alloys. He was an Elder and served as Song Leader at the Fairdealing Church of Christ.
Born Wednesday, Oct. 23, 1929, in Marshall County, he was the son of the late Tommy C. York and the late Effie (Fulks) York.
Surviving are son, Jeff (Tracy) York of Benton; daughters, Betty Jo (Jerry) Mills of Kirksey, Karen (Ricky) Byars of Fairdealing and Sharon Groves of Benton; brothers, Monroe York of Fairdealing and Jerry York of Fairdealing; sisters, Dorothy Hamm of Fairdealing, Ernestine Goins, Linda Humphrey of Benton, Sheila Farmer of Murray and Mary York of Benton; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 58 years, Dorothy (Hildreth) York; son, Marvin Eugene “Gene” York; and sister, Audrey Bray.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2017, in the Chapel of the Collier Funeral Home, Benton. Cory Westerfield will officiate, followed by interment in Marshall County Memory Gardens in Benton.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2017, at Collier Funeral Home.
