Canal Bridge restricted to one lane for inspection

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to restrict traffic to one lane on KY 453/Dover Road at the Canal Bridge in Lyon County on Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 19-20.

Traffic will be restricted to one lane on the Canal Bridge at KY 453 Lyon County milepoint 0.238 to allow a detailed inspection of the bridge structure. This lane restriction is just south of Grand Rivers near the Lyon-Livingston County Line at the northern entrance to Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area. KY 453/Dover Road transitions to The Woodland Trace where it enters Land Between The Lakes.

This lane restriction on the Canal Bridge is expected to be in place from about 8 a.m. to about 3 p.m. each day.

Motorists should be alert for one lane traffic with alternating flow controlled by flaggers. Appropriate caution is required where equipment, flaggers, and bridge inspection personnel are along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow.

The Canal Bridge is also known as the Between The Rivers Memorial Bridge. The bridge carries KY 453 across the canal that connects Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley. About 1,300 vehicles cross the Canal Bridge in an average day.
